Lucile Evelyn Townsend Henderson

Ms. Henderson developed an interest in rheumatology after her sister contracted rheumatoid arthritis and died at a young age. Her family made many gifts to the University of Washington Division of Rheumatology including an estate gift for professorships that pay tribute to Dr. Bruce C. Gilliland, Dr. Mart Mannik, and Dr. Robert F. Willkens.

Commitment

The UW Division of Rheumatology is committed to helping people with rheumatic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus by providing direct care to patients; by conducting research to better understand the reasons for these diseases and to find new, better treatments; and by training new rheumatologists and scientists to be leaders in their field.

How you can help

Philanthropy plays a vital role in helping make these programs strong. Gifts to the Division have a significant impact on our novel research programs, patient education, rheumatology fellowships, and our ability to recruit international experts in rheumatology to our team.

If you would like to learn more research, patient care, and training in the division and role that philanthropy plays helping make these programs strong, please contact Stephanie Pietromonaco, Assistant Director for Philanthropy.
