Research Interests:
Current research is aimed at the development of cell-based biochemical assays, microfabricated technologies for clinical and biomedical applications, and stem-cell based organ-on-chip platforms, with a particular focus on the intestine and its microbiome. Dr. Sims is the scientific co-founder of four companies based on developments of his research program: Protein Simple, Intellego, Cell Microsystems, and Altis Biosystems. He is a fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering.
