Education & Training:

Dr. Chiu attended medical school at A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona, completed her internal medicine residency at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health in Seattle, WA, and completed her rheumatology fellowship at the University of Washington.

Biography:

Dr. Chiu is a dedicated rheumatologist with a passion for guiding patients through the transition from pediatric to adult rheumatology care. During her fellowship, she recognized the critical need for support during this period, as more than half of these young patients are often lost to follow-up. To address this, Dr. Chiu helped create a program that provides access to educational videos and a transition coordinator to assist patients and their families during this time. These resources are part of an ongoing clinical research project aimed at improving continuity of care and patient outcomes.

Alongside treating general rheumatology conditions, Dr. Chiu specializes in treating patients during this transitional phase, ensuring they receive the necessary support and resources to manage their conditions effectively.

Outside of her professional work, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, playing and watching tennis, and participating in competitive powerlifting.
