Medical School: Bangalore Medical College

Internal Medicine Residency: Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas

biography

Dr. Singh grew up in India and earned his medical degree from Bangalore Medical College. Following medical school, he worked as a physician in the Emergency Medicine departments at AIIMS and Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi, where he cared for patients with a wide range of acute and complex medical conditions.

He subsequently moved to the United States to complete his Internal Medicine residency at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas. During residency, he found himself increasingly drawn to the clinical questions that arose at the bedside and discovered a passion for answering them through research while sharing knowledge through teaching.

An avid runner, Anubhav has long appreciated the freedom that movement brings, an appreciation that has shaped his perspective on caring for patients with rheumatic diseases. His academic interests include patient-centered outcomes, quality-of-life research, and medical education.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys running, exploring new cities on long walks with his wife, traveling, and discovering local food spots.

Why Rheumatology?

"Movement has always been meaningful to me, making it especially rewarding to care for patients whose illnesses affect their mobility, independence, and quality of life. During residency, caring for patients with autoimmune diseases showed me how thoughtful diagnosis and treatment could restore not only physical function but also confidence and hope.

Mentors on both the clinical and research sides helped consolidate this interest and showed me the depth and breadth of what rheumatology can offer. I was drawn to the specialty's blend of clinical reasoning, long-term patient relationships, and the opportunity to continually learn through research. Rheumatology offers the unique privilege of improving not just disease outcomes, but how patients experience their everyday lives."

Why UW?

"The University of Washington provides an exceptional environment to develop as both a clinician and an academic rheumatologist. I value the program's outstanding clinical training across diverse practice settings, its collaborative culture, and the strong mentorship that supports each fellow's individual career goals. I look forward to further developing my interests in clinical outcomes and quality-of-life research, as well as medical education, while learning from faculty who are advancing the field of rheumatology. It is a privilege to train alongside outstanding colleagues in a program that fosters curiosity, collaboration, and lifelong learning."
