Why Rheumatology?

"My interest in rheumatology is both professional and deeply personal, as I was first introduced to the field through my own family members who were diagnosed with rheumatic diseases. The experience shaped my perspective as both a future physician and a patient advocate, inspiring me to pursue a career centered on improving the lives of people with these diseases. I am especially drawn to the continuity of care in rheumatology and the opportunity to build long-term relationships with patients as we navigate their disease together. I enjoy the intellectual complexity of autoimmune diseases and the rapidly evolving field of rheumatology, where emerging therapies continue to transform patient care. My long-term goal is to practice community-based rheumatology while serving underserved populations throughout the Pacific Northwest."

Why UW?

"During my away rotation and interview at UW, I quickly realized how special the program is. From the very beginning, the faculty and fellows created a welcoming, collegial environment where I felt genuinely supported as a visiting resident. Even on a busy consult service, everyone consistently took the time to teach, answer questions, and foster my growth, making the rotation one of my most rewarding experiences during residency. I was also particularly drawn to UW's outstanding clinical training, academic excellence, and culture of innovation in rheumatology. As someone with roots in the Pacific Northwest, I am excited by the opportunity to build my career in Washington and continue serving communities in the region.
