biography:

Dr. Kaia Barth grew up in Federal Way, Washington. She attended the University of Washington for her undergraduate degree, majoring in Biochemistry and Cellular Biology.  She returned to the University of Washington for medical school, where she spent two years studying at the Spokane regional campus and participated in the WWAMI Program, completing her clerkships across the five-state region that UW School of Medicine serves.  She left UW to complete residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, where she developed her passion for Rheumatology.  Throughout her training, she has maintained a drive for addressing healthcare disparities through advocacy, research and direct community work, with a particular focus towards Native American communities.  She is excited to be returning home to the Pacific Northwest for a Rheumatology Fellowship and looks forward to serving the region she calls home for years to come.  In her spare time, Dr. Barth enjoys hiking, running, boating and kayaking on the Puget Sound, and getting creative in the kitchen.
