Biography:
Dr. Michailidou earned her MD from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in Greece. She received her Ph.D. degree from the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University of Frankfurt in Germany. During her doctoral thesis, she focused upon research on interaction between Rac1 GTPase molecules and VEGFR-2 expression in human endothelial cells. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Yale New Heaven Health in CT. Consequently, she conducted clinical research at the NIAMS/NIH under the mentorship of Dr. Peter Grayson studying whether specific vascular symptoms are associated with certain angiographic abnormalities in large vessel vasculitis. She now pursues a rheumatology fellowship at the University of Washington and is interested in translational research and clinical application in vasculitis
