Clinic Description

The Rheumatology-Dermatology Clinic at the University of Washington Medical Center Roosevelt Clinic addresses the needs of patients with autoimmune skin diseases, including patients with systemic lupus erythematosus, psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, and scleroderma spectrum diseases (see complete list below). skin condition on faceThe clinic is staffed by dermatologists with expertise in autoimmune skin diseases and rheumatologists who have experience diagnosing and treating autoimmune diseases associated with a variety of skin diseases.

Patients will initially be seen by residents and/or fellows working in the clinic, followed by a combined visit by attending physicians from dermatology and rheumatology.  Skin condition on feetThe combined clinic provides the patient with an excellent comprehensive evaluation, treatment, and follow-up program.

Andrea Kalus

Andrea Kalus, MD

Dr. Kalus is an Associate Professor in the Division of Dermatology and is the Dermatology Co-Director of the Rheumatology-Dermatology Clinic at the University of Washington.  She is also the director of the Phototherapy Unit at Roosevelt Dermatology clinic.  Dr. Kalus completed training in both internal medicine and dermatology and was chief resident in internal medicine and dermatology during her training at the University of Washington.  She has been an invited speaker about autoimmune skin disease locally, regionally, and nationally including at the American College of Rheumatology national meeting.  She has been the recipient of several teaching awards and serves as one of the College Faculty for the University of Washington School of Medicine.

Jenna Thomason

Jenna Thomason, MD, MPH

Dr. Thomason is an Acting Assistant Professor in the Division of Rheumatology and Rheumatology Co-Director of the Rheumatology-Dermatology clinic. She is also involved in education and serves as the Fellowship Program Associate Program Director in the Division of Rheumatology. Dr. Thomason completed her residency in internal medicine and fellowship in rheumatology at the University of Washington. During her training she became interested in autoimmune skin diseases and continued that interest after joining the faculty. She has taught locally and regionally on rheumatology-dermatology topics.

Appointment is by referral only.  Your provider will need to provide records and a question to be addressed by the Rheumatology-Dermatology physicians.  Visits can be for consultation only or for ongoing care of complex issues.
